Some of the girls yesterday didn't have email addresses to sign up for Vox, so we used a temporary email address.
If you'd like to sign up for a Gmail email account, you can follow these instructions to make one and change your vox account's email to match your new email address:
Creating a Gmail Account
- Type http://www.gmail.com in the URL address in your web browser, or click on that link and open it in a new window.
- Click on the blue link that says "Sign Up for Gmail".
- Fill out all the fields, including the weird squiggly password question. Make sure you remember your username and pasword, because you'll need those to log in on all computers. Then, click "I accept. Create my account." at the bottom.
- The next screen gives you a peek at what Gmail looks like. Go ahead and click the blue 'I'm ready - show me my account' link in the top right.
- You'll be led to your Inbox, where a new email message from the Gmail Team appears in bold. Feel free to navigate around your gmail account now. To write an email, click the blue link on the left that says 'Compose Message'.
- To log out of gmail, click the 'Sign out' link in the upper right corner of any page. To sign in and check your email at any time, just go to http://www.gmail.com/ and type in your username and password. Piece of cake!
Changing your Vox Email address
- You have to be logged in to your Vox account to change your email address. If you don't know what email address we used to sign you up, you can email cmdblogs@gmail.com, telling me what your vox Blog was called, and I'll be able to look it up for you and email you back with an answer. To log into Vox, go to http://www.vox.com, and type the email address used to set up your blog along with your password, and click 'Log In'.
- While logged in, there is a row of links at the top that should say "Hi [your name]", "Messages", "Account", "Help", and "Sign Out". Click on the "Account" link.
- On the left side of the 'Vox Identity' page, there are a number of gray links. Click on the last one, called "Your Account".
- The first field you should see on the 'Vox Sign-in Settings' page is your email address. Click 'Change your email address' to change it. [ You'll also notice that this is where you can change your password.
- Under the 'Email Addresses' section, click 'Add Email', and type your new gmail address (with the @gmail.com) at the end and click 'Send Confirmation'.
- Vox has sent you an email to make sure that you really own that email address. Check your gmail, and when you receive a message called 'Adding a new email address to Vox', click on the blue 'click here' link to continue.
- Now you should be led to a Vox screen that lists the old email address, along with your new one. Set your new email address as the primary one by clicking the "set as primary" link right next to it.
- That's it!! Now, whenever you log into Vox, you'll use your new gmail address as your login name and your Vox password.
Email me if you have any questions! cmdblog@gmail.com
